The “Fate” portion of Fate/Transport studies often involves evaluating biodegradation or the lack thereof. While at BEAK, I was fortunate to be involved with several Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) projects involving spills. At both Exponent and Hargis, the opportunity also arose to work on several litigation cases, many of which involved forensics work (ex. dating releases) with insurance companies. The approach is always the same; keep the opposing experts or Trustees scientific and honest.
The scales of justice (Hawaii project) were targeted for the graphic on this page because that seemed appropriate for a category that has litigation in it. But in the end, I chose this one instead: you can't beat a photo of a large ship with a big hole in it.
